Gabriel was first called to the employed Bar in 2021 whilst working as a Senior Federal Prosecutor at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP). He came to the private Bar, and Murray Gleeson Chambers, in 2022.

At the CDPP, Gabriel gained extensive experience appearing in Courts throughout Queensland, including on applications, appeals, sentences and summary trials. He frequently engaged with difficult questions of statutory construction and the interrelation of Commonwealth and State law in prosecutions concerning child exploitation, illegal imports, national security, and financial crime.

Before joining the Bar, Gabriel was a Judge’s Associate at the Supreme Court of Queensland and gained further legal experience in pro bono and professional settings. He worked on medical negligence, migration and coronial cases, appeared regularly before the Mental Health Review Tribunal, and conducted research on legal disciplinary cases.

Gabriel graduated from the University of Queensland in 2015 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, both with First Class Honours. He was awarded a University Medal in Psychology and was named UQ Graduate of the Year.

In 2019, he graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law with Distinction from the University of Oxford. His particular focus was on medical law, children and families, criminal justice and security, and human rights.
