Katherine is a diligent advocate with a predominantly public law practice. Her practice extends to commercial regulation.

Because Katherine’s expertise is in regulatory cases, and administrative and constitutional law, her practice is not limited by subject matter. It extends to all jurisdictions and legal contexts, including coronial inquests and commissions of inquiry, involving:

  • an exercise of regulatory power

  • a constitutional challenge

  • judicial or merits review

  • a regulatory offence or prosecutions

  • civil penalty proceedings and confiscations

  • professional disciplinary matters

  • quasi-criminal proceedings

  • human rights.

Katherine’s expertise includes disputes that arise in sporting contexts. She has advised and acted in racing matters, and for international-level athletes before the Court of Arbitration for Sport based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Prior to admission to the bar, Katherine enjoyed diverse experience as a solicitor. She has been: a senior lawyer in the Dispute Resolution team of Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) working across the areas of law enforcement, general administrative law, and employment and workers’ compensation; a senior lawyer at the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry; a solicitor in the litigation and regulatory law team of an international law firm; and a solicitor in the planning, government, infrastructure and environment team of a national law firm.

Katherine has also worked as a legal officer at the Australian Law Reform Commission and as the associate to the Honourable Justice Debra Mullins of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Katherine holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Arts (economics and political science) from the University of Queensland.
