Shane is Head of State Chambers and a Director, appointed Senior Counsel in 2018 after commencing practice at the Bar in 2000. He has appeared in over 70 reported decisions, including 53 High Court cases, and is recognised for his expertise in employment, industrial, administrative, and public law. His broad practice includes migration, constitutional, human rights, admiralty, commercial, and corporations law, as well as high-profile public interest cases and international arbitrations in the Asia-Pacific.

Shane is trusted by governments and major corporations for his strategic legal advice and formidable advocacy. He has been consistently ranked in legal directories and is known for his technical excellence and leadership in complex litigation.

He is a Nationally Accredited Mediator and a Senior Certified International Arbitrator. He holds Law and Arts degrees from ANU and a maritime law certificate from Lloyd’s Academy. In recognition of his pro bono work, he received the Refugee Week Humanitarian Award in 2015.
